Wine Appreciation Planning something for July (outside or via Zoom) The Wine Appreciation Newcomer Group meets once a month (the 3rd or 4th Wednesday) at a member’s home to sample a measured 1.4 ounce taste of various wines. The host often selects a theme or region that the wines will be selected from. Guests bring a bottle of wine and an appetizer to share with each other and give a brief description about the wine they brought. In essence, this a great way to socialize and learn about wine at the same time! Participants are always reminded to plan ahead for a safe ride or walk home.

Please email Linda Watson at if you are interested in joining this group. Also please email Linda if you have moved on to the “Alumni” and/or wish to be removed from the email invite list.

*Events at restaurants require you RSVP the activity coordinator.

Links to COVID-19 Resources

We were contacted by Services Canada advising of their program information online and that they have a phone number to call for those without Internet access or who need help accessing government programs and services. So we put together this page with a link to their information, as well as other Federal, Provincial and Municipal resource websites.

On behalf of the PNC Board, we wish you well and look forward to seeing you again in hopefully the not-so-distant future. Meanwhile if you have questions or suggestions for the Parksville Newcomers Club, don’t hesitate to contact me at

Community Volunteer Opportunities

Note: this page has not been updated during the COVID-19 situation. With a stay-at-home plea from public health officials, groups that ordinarily look for volunteers are not.) So in future, if you’re looking for a volunteer opportunity, this would be the page to check out our Community Volunteers page.  If you know of a community organization that is looking for volunteers have them send their info to our webmaster at
