May & June Meetings
The board met recently and in keeping with the provincial public health guidelines, our May meeting is cancelled. However, we’re working on an agenda for the June 3 meeting. As I write this, we don’t yet know if we can hold our meeting in person or not; but if not, then we could potentially have the meeting online. We’ll provide all the details well in advance once they are finalized.
A Possible Summer Event
We’re also hoping that the restrictions on group gatherings and on provincial parks will be lifted in the summer months. We would love to be able to plan a PNC Summer Picnic on the Beach at Rathtrevor. It would be great to see everyone, even while keeping 6 feet apart!
Meanwhile Ladies Golf has restarted at Brigadoon (with physical distancing, of course!). If you’re interested in joining, contact activity coordinator Linda Burgess at firstname.lastname@example.org. Pictured here, Susan McAlevy and Linda Burgess happy to be back on the course.
A Request for Volunteers
Now is the time when, if you’re out driving, you’ll see folks cutting broom on the sides of the roads. Such an invasive plant! They can always use more help, starting this Friday, May 8th. Complete details are here.
Links to COVID-19 Resources
We were contacted by Services Canada advising of their program information online and that they have a phone number to call for those without Internet access or who need help accessing government programs and services. So we put together this page with a link to their information, as well as other Federal, Provincial and Municipal resource websites.
On behalf of the PNC Board, we wish you well and look forward to seeing you again in hopefully the not-so-distant future. Meanwhile if you have questions or suggestions for the Parksville Newcomers Club, don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com.
